“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”
― John Muir
“Humans were intimately connected with nature for 99 percent of our existence,” says Dr. Victorson from Northwestern Medicine. “It’s no surprise that the one percent of our existence, when we’re disconnected from nature and destroying it, has impacted our psychological well-being.”
The more we can connect with nature and cherish the offerings she brings, the better off we will be for it.
Get out in nature. Every day if possible. It is one of my favorite tools for mindfulness and healing. My ideal version is out in the middle of the woods away from all sounds of traffic and the city, but even spending time in your own backyard or at a local park is rewarding.
Nature bathing has a wealth of health benefits. It can lower blood pressure and cortisol levels, boost your mood, increase energy and leave you with a clearer mind. It can also increase your vitamin D levels. Hello sun! We often lead busy and distracted lives attached to our electronic devices or burn out from work stress and other obligations. Nature bathing can be a powerful tool to our healing journey.
How are you spending more time in nature?
